SafeIntake ("we," "us," or "our") is a family of barcode scanning apps designed to help people with dietary restrictions, allergies, and health goals make safer choices. These Terms of Service govern your use of our apps and websites. By using SafeIntake, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

SafeIntake is not a medical service, not a diagnostic tool, and not a substitute for professional medical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical guidance, especially for allergies, intolerances, or health conditions.

1. Informational Use Only

SafeIntake provides barcode scanning and ingredient analysis for food, pet products, household products, and personal care items. All results (SAFE, CAUTION, UNSAFE, or CAN'T VERIFY), health scores, allergen flags, and recommendations are provided for informational and educational purposes only.

We make no promises, guarantees, or warranties regarding health outcomes, the absence of allergens, or the suitability of any product for your specific needs.

2. Not Medical Advice

SafeIntake is not a medical service, not a diagnostic tool, and not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. The app's features, including allergen detection, sugar and additive flagging, and SAFE, CAUTION, UNSAFE, or CAN'T VERIFY results, constitute general informational guidance only.

Always consult a qualified healthcare professional for decisions related to allergies, intolerances, dietary restrictions, or any health condition. In a medical emergency, contact your local emergency services immediately.

3. Availability and Pricing

SafeIntake Food is currently available free of charge. Optional paid features or additional scanners may be offered in the future. Any applicable price will be displayed before purchase.

4. Provided "As Is" — No Warranties

SafeIntake is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of accuracy, completeness, reliability, availability, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

5. Accuracy and Third-Party Data

SafeIntake relies on product data from Open Food Facts and related Open * Facts community-maintained databases. This data may be incomplete, outdated, delayed, estimated, or unavailable. Manufacturers may also change product ingredients or formulations without notice.

You are responsible for independently verifying product information by checking the physical packaging and consulting the manufacturer when in doubt. Do not rely solely on the app for safety-critical decisions.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SafeIntake and its creators are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from your use of the app or websites, including but not limited to adverse reactions, allergic responses, health issues, or decisions made based on information provided by SafeIntake.

You accept full responsibility for your dietary, health, and product choices. Your use of SafeIntake is entirely at your own risk.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree to use SafeIntake for lawful, personal, non-commercial purposes only. You must not:

  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app
  • Disrupt, interfere with, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the app or its underlying services
  • Scrape, copy, or harvest data from SafeIntake in bulk or for redistribution
  • Use SafeIntake in any way that violates applicable laws or the rights of third parties

8. Intellectual Property

The SafeIntake name, logo, app interface, website design, text, and original content are the property of SafeIntake and its creators. Reproduction, modification, or redistribution of any of these materials requires our prior written permission.

Third-party data and content displayed within the app (such as product information from Open Food Facts) remains the property of its original owners and is used under the applicable open licences.

9. Children

SafeIntake is intended for general audiences and is not designed for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising any use of the app by minors.

10. Website Contact Form

Information you submit through our website contact form (such as your name, email, and message) is used solely to respond to your enquiry and is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We do not use this information for marketing or share it with third parties.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Updates will be reflected here with a revised "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of SafeIntake after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the applicable laws of the jurisdiction in which SafeIntake operates, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of that jurisdiction.
